One of the longest-lived gaming franchises still currently active is Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. It seems as though new and classic gamers have been buying version of this game for twenty years. Actually, it has been twenty-five.
On November 7, 2010, Nintendo of America will mark the 25th anniversary of their flagship plumbers with a huge celebration at Nintendo World in Rockefeller Plaza. The celebration also marks the grand re-opening of the store, and fans are invited to gather in the Plaza to check out the newest innovations and remods to the store’s design and offerings.
Partiers will be able to play retro and modern Super Mario Bros. games and can also partake in other games, cake, and a video station where fans can record their favorite Mario memories. Revelers are encouraged to come in costume, dressed as their favorite Super Mario Bros. character. The official mascot will be on hand, and attendees can have their photos taken with gaming’s most famous plumber.
To date, over 240 million units of Super Mario Bros. games have been sold, making it one of the most prolific franchises ever. See more about this historic celebration here.
