Originally introduced in 1992 as a spin-off of Nintendo’s flagship series, Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart has been a title nearly as stable and staunch as its inspiration. It has seen life on nearly every console and system Nintendo has developed, ranging from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System to the Nintendo DS. In 2009, it was released in its original format for the Wii Virtual Console. It should come as no surprise that Mario Kart is getting another facelift for the 3DS system.
The portable Nintendo 3DS gaming system will run the super-hit game at 60 frames a second, making it much more smooth in appearance than the old classics. However, it will retain much of the old school goodness. Goombas will act as obstacles on the courses, and Princess Peach’s castle can be seen, along with many other scenes from previous installments of Mario Kart and other Super Mario Bros. games.
