For fans of the Super Mario Bros. movie, or just fans of Super Mario Bros. in general, new updates to the highly detailed Super Mario Bros. movie site may provide an interesting surf.
Sure, the movie is closing in hard on twenty years old, but that is what is beautiful about all things retro. Everything gets better with age, and this site keeps coming up with new material, interesting interviews and pertinent information to make sure fans always have something new to entertain them. It also gives potential fans a good reason to give the movie, and the site, a look.
New in recent weeks on the site is a series of original scripts. These are pre-production scripts where ideas were first born and put to paper. Editions are also noted, showing the true evolution of the characters and scenes. It is fun to compare the pre-production scripts to the finished product just to see the method behind the madness of SMB.
In addition to the scripts, which are well worth a read or three, SMBMovie is offering an exclusive interview with Michael Criscuolo. He has worked on such popular hits as Sleeping With the Enemy, the Sopranos, and the Exorcist III. He is largely uncredited for his work, both behind the scenes and in the spotlight. As John Leguizamo’s (Luigi) stand-in and also a production assistant on the movie, Criscuolo has intimate knowledge of the makings of this Saturn Award nominee. Moreover, he played the part of Goomba Man.
The interview is a surprisingly fun read with some interesting facts. For example, Criscuolo, to this day, has never played a Super Mario Bros. video game, despite being a part of the movie on several levels.
Stay tuned to this site for more pending interviews with writers, actors and anyone else who contributed to this still popular flick. Visit it here and be sure to bookmark it to stay on top of all the products, news, fan art, and updates at SMB.
