Symbian, or Symbian OS, is an operating system that was created for use on mobile systems such as smartphones. It was acquired by Nokia in 2008 and is used on many of their cellular smartphone systems. It is the world's most popular system for smartphones and over 50% of smartphone sales feature the Symbian operating system.
Symbian has been an extremely dynamic operating system, and has been developed and redeveloped several times, sometimes multiple times in a single fiscal year.
Many mobile Java-based games are available for play on the Symbian operating system. Later versions of the system also are compatible with DOSBOX, an MS DOS emulator, which enables gamers to play older computer games from the generation before Windows became so popular.
Currently there are many websites available for consumers to download and purchase Symbian games for their mobile devices. The Nokia devices support many popular games, such as Tomb Raider Underworld, Age of Heroes, Raptor and Metal Gear Solid 3D Mobile. Moreover, Symbian also features remakes of classics, such as the Settlers, Super Mario All-Stars, Wheel of Fortune. There are also many adaptations of classic and popular puzzle games. |
