Goldeneye 007 for N64 is one of those timeless games, one that you will always remember, either if you played it when the N64 was the latest console or if you still play it now on a well-kept console or emulator.
The gameplay is simple and easy to pick up for novices, but those well-practiced can also have hours of fun scouting each other out for kills in 2, 3 or 4 player games. Remembered this way, it is one of the games that started a trend for co-operative/one-on-one multiplayer games that are have now become even more popular after games like Halo and Call of Duty. The variety of weapons also meant that advantages could easily picked up by random chance. Bog standard machine guns, pistols and explosives give all players expected chances for kills. However, other rare weapons also spring up in different places in all the playable maps – of which there are an interesting variety. Laser guns, throwing knives and the infamous Golden Gun meant high-tech could give you the advantage or a powerful one-hit kill with the latter of these options!
Different modes of gameplay for battles mean it will take a good while to get bored. Some were very similar, but you can always keep score and play for best out of 5, 7, 9, etc. The death-match mode could be added to with ‘You Only Live Twice’, meaning you only had two lives to rack up a high body count. ‘The Living Daylights’ meant you had to hold the flag the longest – after you found it. A similar challenge is also laid out in ‘The Man With the Golden Gun’, but here you have to hold the shiny weapon the longest, including after you’ve run out of ammo and while everyone can see you on the radar! And then of course there’s ‘License to Kill’. One-hit slap deaths will cause a good laugh if bored of other game modes. In the other modes, you can also try using your hands to ‘slap’ people to death and this can be an amusing challenge for those wanting to come out on top if everyone agrees not to use other weapons!
Goldeneye will be fondly remembered for the multiplayer options that caused many hours of enjoyment among friends on the console. Goldeneye 007 potentially be revisited through emulators today, but it must not be forgotten that this is also an excellent game for its one player mode. The replay value and varying difficulty levels mean that this is just as likely to take up your time today, as would the latest Halo game.

Golden Eye 007 is one of the greatest game ever created during his time. While other first person still struggling with left and right movement, this game have already developed free motion movement as we have for first person gaming nowadays.
the mission and sub missions were all so good and enjoyable during it's time. and thoroughly something new for us back then.
