As technology grows around the globe, people are always trying to create gadgets and devices that can do more than what they were originally intended to do. It is very easy to see this progression when looking at the advances made in cellular phone technology. Currently the iPhone, by Apple, is one of the premier smartphones on the market. It is as much a multimedia device as it is a phone. It serves as a camera, a portable media player, an Internet browser (complete with Wi-Fi and e-mail), as well as a standard phone that sends and receives text messages and phone calls.
The iPhone runs an operating system known as iPhone OS. It takes up little space is capable of supporting Apple applications, as well as some third party software. The most common place consumers find software applications, including games, for their iPhones is at the online Apple store, iTunes. Games and other applications can be purchased from iTunes for meager fees. Most play on the phone using its easy-to-use touch screen.
Many games are created especially for the iPhone, and many more are restructured re-releases of older games that were popular on other gaming systems. Classic games have made a comeback on newer gaming systems because they can be downloaded cheaply and easily to devices such as the iPhone. Puzzle games that are easy to manipulate on a touch screen are also popular choices. |
