Classic Xbox Games News

Released: Februar 2002, 7 years ago
CPU Speed: Intel 733 MHz
Memory: 64 MB RAM
Video: 1920x1080 / True Color
Game Controller: Gamepad
Price in 2002: $299

This second generation video gaming console system by Microsoft followed hot on the heels of the initial Xbox after only five years in the field. It was introduced to compete with the Sony PlayStation 3, as well as the Nintendo Wii, both featuring deep, deep roots in the home video gaming console market.

The Xbox 360 was unveiled on MTV, with the imminent release receiving a ton of media coverage. It sold out almost immediately upon release in 2005 in all regions across the globe except for Japan. It was introduced to 36 countries in its first year, more than any other system to date. There are two models: The Arcade and the Elite. Between the two models (each of which has its own accessories) there have been over 34 million systems sold worldwide.

The Arcade is the basic Xbox unit that replaced the Xbox Core as the standard machine. It had a selling price of near $280.00 and comes with a nifty wireless controller and a 256 MB memory chip. It also has five Xbox Live titles that serve as a sort of "welcome" and actually includes a welcome video that presents trailers for more detailed games. In light of recent economic turbulence, the price has been drastically reduced, selling in some places for only $199.

The Elite is the sexy, matte black model that came with a set of headphones and controller to match. It originally sold for just under $500, but also saw a recent price cut. While much of the difference between the two models is cosmetic, the Elite also has been reconfigured with a 250 GB hard drive. Many were also produced with a Zephyr motherboard.
